Akshay Kumar withdrew from the film 'Gorkha', raising questions about the authenticity of the story

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has decided not to act in director Anand L Rai's film 'Gorkha' after a disagreement over the storyline. Indian media reported that Akshay left the film due to lack of creative consensus.

The film was based on the heroism of Major General Ian Cardozo of the Indian Army in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. This film was announced in October 2021. Sources revealed that Akshay decided to walk out of the film after the authenticity of the story was questioned.

Quoting the source, Hindustan Times writes, "During the war, Major General Cardozo was joined by other veterans." But there are definitely some question marks regarding the facts of the incident. Akshay has high respect for the armed forces and does not want to be associated with a story that could be under the shadow of suspicion.

The film was a biopic of Indian Army Major General Ian Cardozo. This film was based on the war of 1971. Major General Cardozo is said to have cut his own leg with a khukri after stepping into a landmine during the 1971 war. In August last year, when asked about the film, Rai said that they are working on it and will go on floors once the script is locked. Akshay's spokesperson has confirmed that he will not be doing the film without giving further details.
