Kathmandu. In Bhakundebesi, Kavre, the second iteration of the Nepal Rural Film Festival has begun. It has been announced by the festival's organizer, Celebrity Nepal Foundation, that 17 films with rural themes will be screened. The majority of the filmmakers are travelling there to take part in the event.
A pre-event was held in Kathmandu on the festival's eve, and after the jury's decision, certificates were also given out to the chosen films. The festival's jury includes film editor Bharat Regmi, actor Subas Gajurel, and director and editor of films Raksha Singh Rana.
The festival, which runs on Friday and Saturday, will screen movies ranging from the critically acclaimed 'Praksh' to the blockbuster 'Zhingedau' from 2079. The festival will feature performances of the songs 'Desan', 'Lhui'', 'Neermaya', 'Charitra', 'Aafnai Karma', 'Meri Hajurama', 'Sait', 'Seti Didi', 'Kahani ekadesh ko', 'Durgamandu', 'Aaina', 'Hookah', and 'Parivartan'. The performance of 'Lunga' which is now being prepared will release in July.
Dipendra Lama, a writer and filmmaker, Diya Poon, an actor, and Ramraja Dahal, the president of Oscar College, are all teaching a 'master class' at the event. Actors Buddhi Tamang and Mukun Bhusal will similarly engage in conversation with the children about 'Movies through the eyes of rural students.'
Three local filmmakers who were raised in the same region- director Janak Khakurel, actor Raj Timalsina, and director Uttamprasad Adhikari- will receive awards during the festival. The festival, which will be conducted in association with the Film Development Board, will feature more than two dozen directors.
The festival's inaugural edition was held at Gorkha's Laprak. The festival has been launched with a focus on audiences in locations without access to movie theaters, according to the president of the organizing group, Raghunath Sapkota.
