Mohan Niraula was elected as the President of the Film Artists Association

Kathmandu. Mohan Niraula has been elected as the President of the Film Artists Association. The 19th Congress of the association held in Kathmandu on Saturday elected a new working committee.

Niraula defeated the nearest candidate for the post of President Regina Upreti by 26 votes. Out of the total votes cast, Niraula got 235 votes while Upreti got 209 votes. 26 votes were voided. Niraula has been working as the general secretary and vice president of the organization since its inception. In the previous working committee, he was the vice-chairman and spokesperson.

Kavita Gelal and Shivahari Bairagi won the vice-presidential position. Sabin Shrestha was elected as the general secretary. Rameshwar Burlakoti won as secretary and Sunil Katuwal as treasurer. Pavitra Acharya was elected as co-treasurer unopposed.

Among the members, Sheetal KC won by getting the most 302 votes. Among the other members, Gopal Dhakal 'Chande', Uddhav Prasad Bhattarai, Pawan KC, Namrata Kharel, Pukar Bhattarai, Khushbu Khadka, Sarita Rajopadhyay, Roshan Shrestha and Sameer Lama were elected.

After being elected, while talking to Online News, the newly elected president Niraula said that he will proceed keeping in mind the professional interests of the organization.
