Nagarkot Duet Evening Won Kathmandu's Running Shield Nagarkot from Thamel in Kathmandu won the duet evening singing competition, beating out 60 other folk duet teams. In the 'Sixth Tuborg National Running Shield Open Duet Competition-2078' held by the National Folk and Duet Song Foundation Nepal, Nagarkot practice evening was outstanding. The competition attracted 61 teams from more than 45 districts around the country.
On April 3, the competition began in Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu and ended on Sunday. Nagarkot Dohori Sanjh and Gambesi Dohori Sanjh competed fiercely in the open competition's final round. Jeevan Sigdel and Asmita Dallakoti of Nagarkot duet team excelled after Gambesi Dohori. They were awarded Rs. 250,000, as well as medals and certificates along with the National Running Shield for Folk Duet.
Gambesi Duet Evening, meanwhile, came in second place in this national competition. Arjun Khadka and Shanta Oli of Kathmandu got trophies, medals and Rs. 150,000 as second awards.
In the same tournament, this time two groups have secured third place. The Queen Rodhi Club of Kathmandu and the Lumbini Pradesh Folk and Duet Song Academy were the other two teams contending for first and second place in the final competition.
A trophy, medal, and certificate worth Rs 100,000 were presented to the third-place team. Bikram Babu Bishwakarma and Laxmi Basnet of Lumbini State Folk and Duet Song Academy tied for third place with Shyam Rana and Harimaya Rayamajhi of Queen Roddy Club.
Suman Khadka, Raju Lamichhane, and Puja Pun and Archana Chapagain were named Best Male and Female Artists, respectively. As a prize, they each received Rs 10,000 and a certificate. The prize was given to the Okhaldhunga Lok Dohori Pratishthan squad for being a disciplined team. They were given a certificate and Rs. 10,000 as a reward for being the most disciplined team.
Nishant BK and Dil Kumari BK, two new artists who performed well in the competition, each earned Rs 5,000 and a certificate as a new talent promotion reward. Similarly, as an incentive award, the Bhadrakali mothers' group received Rs. 5,000 and a certificate.
At the concluding ceremony, Ramesh BG, President of the National Folk and Duet Song Academy, thanked everyone for attending and noted that they held the competition to inspire musicians in folk duet singing by reviving the folk duet music business, which had been hindered by the Corona outbreak. Even in the present economic slump, the initiative has been successful thanks to everyone's support, according to BG.
The initiative was led by the General Secretary of the Academy Subash KC for the past four days.
