Pokhara. On the third day of the Ninth National Games on Sunday, some competitions including athletics and swimming have won gold, while group stage matches are continuing in some competitions.
On Sunday, three national records were set in swimming and two in athletics. In swimming, Nasir Hussain improved his own record in 200m individual medley and 200m backstroke. On the women's side, Duwana Lama improved her own record in the 50m breaststroke.
In athletics, Army's Deepak Adhikari set a new national record with gold in the 10,000 meters race. He broke the 8-year-old record held by Gopichandar Parki. Army's Jayarani Tharu improved her own record in 400m hurdles.
Niseem Thapa of Tribhuvan Army Club, who competed in men's crush country category during the National Paragliding Championship, passed away in an accident. Within three minutes of taking off the paraglide, he fell to the ground from about 100 meters. He died during treatment at Metro City Hospital in Pokhara.
