Kathmandu. The High Court of Patan has banned the screening of the movie Prasad-2.
Spokesperson Mandira Shahi informed that on Tuesday the bench of Judge Sudarshan Raj Pandey issued a short-term order and stopped the demonstration.
Along with the interim order to stop the release of the film, the Film Development Board has also issued a show cause order regarding the passing of the censor. Advocates Saroj Adhikari, Shyam Kumar Vishwakarma and Arun Paudel argued for Pandey.
Prasad-2 was said to be released on Friday. But Keshav Pandey has filed a writ against the producer of Prasad 2, Subhas Thapa, saying that he cheated him by making him a producer. He registered the writ in Patan on Monday.
It is alleged that Thapa cheated 62 lakh 50 thousand rupees by saying that he would become a producer. Pandey filed a complaint against him at the district police complex in Kathmandu on February 29. But producer Thapa is absconding.
Keshav Pandey had also filed a complaint with the Film Development Board to stop the 'Prasad 2' censor work.
Thapa, who is accused of cheating Pandey, has not even paid the money for the homestay where the film was shot. 6 people petitioned the board against Thapa saying that they did not have money including homestay and technicians.
On Monday, the board called for a discussion to reach an agreement between the two parties. Subwas Thapa did not come when Pandey was present in the board.
Distributor Gopal Kayastha was present on his behalf. When the board decided to run the film, Pandey disagreed.
The bench has called both sides for discussion on 26th March. Spokesperson Shahi said that the film has been ordered not to be screened until then.
Thapa, who is absconding in banking crime, has claimed through social media that he will pay everyone's money after the release of the film.
