Kathmandu. National team cricketers Sharad Bheshavkar and Arif Shaikh have said that justice should be given to former captain Sandeep Lamichhane, who is serving time on rape charges.
They said in a Facebook post this morning that justice should be done to Sandeep.
Sandeep is in pre-trial detention after being accused of raping a minor. The district court in Kathmandu had ordered to send him to prison on 18th November last. According to that order, he has been kept in the central jail.
When the news that he is suffering from depression is published, cricketers are writing 'Justice for Sandeep Lamichhane' using the hashtag.
He has filed an appeal in the Patan High Court, demanding that the order of the district court be quashed. Earlier, on January 14th, his application was scheduled for payment and was not sent to see.
On August 21 last, a minor filed a complaint against Sandeep at the Gaushala police. At that time, Lamichhane, who had reached Jamaica to play in the Caribbean League, returned to Nepal on October 20. He was detained by the police from Tribhuvan International Airport on the same day.
